More Info about EducationProjectors
Just AV is the leading Specialist for Educational AV Needs. We know what school and colleges need when it comes to projectors and other items such as Visualiser Interactive Whiteboards. Being part of Just Projectors means that Just AV has all the advantages of large buying but the specialist for Education. The best Projectors for schools are either LCD, DLP and LED/DLP Hybrid.DLP Projectors- are they suitable for education?. Yes now that they have sorted out the colour wheel issue and the very low instance of rainbow affect. The advantage as a school projector with DLP Projectors are that they are cheaper then LCD Projectors and the pricing on the projector replacement lamps is again cheaper. And that makes sense as educational projectors are used every day . The DLP projectors are also suitable for education as they do not need any projector filters cleaning and so it you had this say installed in a large school hall then that would be a real advantage. DLP work by thousands of mirrors making up the pixels , they switch either on or off and a spinning colour wheel creates the colours needed. The main suppliers of educational DLP Projectors are Optoma and Benq. Both of these manufacturers offer extended warranty on the education projector such as longer warranty on the projector lamp and sometimes a warranty that is called de/re install warranty which means that if you projector is installed then someone can come and switch it out for your school. There is a height limit and terms and conditions.LCD Projectors are suitable for schools projectors for the times when colour reproduction is important have been in existence longer than any other technology. The colours on these are extremely accurate and if you need a projector for use in say an art class or for the budding photographer or graphic designer. The why that the LCD works is the three colours in the prism has light shone through it and a light strikes up and throw the colours out of the projector. This is controlled via the LCD panel The best LCD manufacturers for education projectors are Epson, Sanyo Hitachi NEC and Mitsubishi. LED/DLP hybrid projectors have only been released in the last year and they are very exciting as a concept for an school or college projector. They benefit from the huge long lamp life of say 20,000 hours from the led lamp and work the same as a DLP projector. The only manufacturer to crack this technology so far is Casio and along with their helpful double zoom function on their projectors means that they have become a popular choice for schools. So how do you decide what specification is suitable for your education projector. Brightness or Ansi lumens. Just AV recommend 2000-3000 lumens for a standard classroom, 3000-5000 lumens for a large school hall. This is allowing lights to remain on and no blinds used. If the light is controlled then the lumens can be reduced by 30%. There have been thousands of projectors sold to schools in the past that were 1000 lumens and they worked in the darker rooms. As lumens is now not so expensive you might as well take advantage of a brighter picture. In fact sometimes it might be useful to drop the lumens to an eco mode and save the lamp life on your projector. However think of lumens as a measurement of brightness over distance, and the reason why I have mentioned this is that the Ultra short throw projectors that come from the wall are lower lumens as the image doesn’t have to go as far.. Resolution – is the computer measurement of pixels. Schools and colleges tend to buy either XGA projectors or WXGA projectors. If you have a limited budget then an SVGA Projector for a small classroom just showing a PowerPoint presentation with detailed graphics will suffice but only just. XGA projectors are only another £50 then SVGA projectors and therefore it is false economy in our opinion. If you can afford a HD resolution or SXGA+ resolution projector for your art or design classes then it makes a huge difference .The increased brightness of say the Optoma EH1020 with its 3000 lumens and 1080p projector HD resolution is a prime example of how the market is changing. Canon in the past have really had the corner on the SXGA+ (1400 x1050) projector market with their Canon XEED range but again with the HD range increasing this seems to be a less popular resolution.. Inputs on a projector important- do you need to connect 2 pcs or laptops then choose a projector with 2 vga’s. Do you need to show a monitor as well as a projector from say your pc then choose a projector with vga in and vga out. All projectors come with composite video connection and s video . Component video or BNC which is the red/green/blue connection is a much higher quality than the composite video as it provides a correct display of the signal HDMI is fast becoming the must have connection as it is the basically a digital version of a Scart connection and it has the advantage that it also carries audio, not all projector that have a HD connection are HD quality, they are HD ready which means that you can connect via the hdmi but the image quality will only be as good as the native resolution of the projector. You will need to buy a 720p HD or 1080p HD to get a true hd resolution. Having a RJ45 connection will allow you to manage the lamp life alerts or maybe switch off all classroom projectors at 5pm. If you are going to install you projector then you must get one that produces an image to fit the projector screen you have. Each projector is given a throw ratio, which basically means that the width of screen say in metres multiplied by the throw distance ratio will say how far back the projector need to be placed. There is usually two ratios so that is where the projector zoom comes in to place. Therefore if you already have projectors installed in say a classroom then you must get the details of the projector screen width, the distance away the projector has been placed and then we need to look at the projector ceiling mount, because if it is a cage then the lens might need to be on the same side.
